Materials & Care

At STUDIYO, materials are chosen for durability, comfort, and everyday wear. Many pieces are made from stainless steel and PVD finishes for their low-maintenance properties, while some older or specialty pieces use other materials for specific design details.

Below is a quick guide to the materials we use and how to care for them.

Quick Care (Applies to Most Pieces)

To keep your jewelry looking its best:

  • Store in a dry place
  • Avoid perfumes, lotions, cleaning products, and ultrasonic cleaners
  • Remove before heavy exercise or swimming in chlorinated pools
  • Store separately to prevent scratching

Stainless Steel

Most STUDIYO pieces are made from stainless steel, chosen for its durability and low-maintenance wear. Stainless steel is tarnish-resistant and well-suited for everyday wear, so you don’t have to take it off all the time.

It can handle daily life and occasional water exposure, but we recommend avoiding chlorinated pools and harsh chemicals to keep it looking its best.

To clean: Use mild soap, water, and a soft cloth.

PVD Finish (Gold, Silver, Black, Rose Gold)

STUDIYO pieces feature a PVD finish over stainless steel or brass. PVD is applied using a vacuum coating process that bonds the finish to the metal, making it more durable than traditional gold plating and well-suited for everyday wear.

To extend the life of the finish, avoid abrasive surfaces, polishing cloths with compounds, harsh chemicals, and ultrasonic cleaners. Store pieces separately to prevent scratching.

To clean: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.

White Jade

Some STUDIYO pieces feature white jade, a natural stone with a soft, diffused glow. Each stone may vary slightly in color and translucency, which makes each piece unique.

White jade should be kept away from harsh chemicals and should not be submerged in water for long periods, as the stones are set by hand.

To clean: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.

Enamel

Enamel is a glass coating applied to metal. While durable, it can chip if dropped or hit against hard surfaces. Handle with care and store separately.

Sterling Silver & Gold Vermeil (Past Collections)

Some previous STUDIYO pieces were made in sterling silver and gold vermeil.

Sterling silver may develop patina over time and can be polished with a silver polishing cloth to restore shine.

Gold vermeil is a thick layer of gold over sterling silver. To preserve the gold layer, avoid abrasive polishing and use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
